Jessop East Engineering Building

Sheffield University has made its largest ever investment in teaching and learning in creating a new educational engineering facility. As well as specialist engineering teaching facilities, the building will also house a range of seminar rooms, lecture theatres, open-plan learning spaces.

Billington Structures had the pleasure in fabricating and providing the steel for an atrium roof, link bridges and the striking façade. This project didn’t come without its challenges, as this involved working in an extremely confined environment with large amounts of steel amongst other trades. As much of the construction phase was carried out through winter, the temperature also affected welding conditions. Although this project did prove to be a challenge, the close working relationship meant that this was a pleasurable and successful one.
