Location: North West

Project value: £1,750,000.00

The new campus for North Liverpool Academy will house laboratories, workshops, recording studios, a theatre and teaching rooms equipped with the latest information and communication technology.

The development has been described as two parallel rectilinear blocks expressed externally as a ‘tube’ that wraps over the building. This tube section has the appearance of a classic Jaguar car door handle.

Billington Structures is erecting the steelwork. The ‘handle’ alone consists of 350t of complex steelwork, comprising bowsting trusses which support the main floor levels above which are curved multi-radius roof members forming the central profile. The ends of the handle also have curved tubular purlins and sheeting rails to form the final external shape.

Project Scope

Two storey beam and column teaching blocks, trussed roof sports hall and architectural featured curved central handle.
