After spending nearly a year on site, Billington Structures has completed the structural steelwork on the North Liverpool Academy construction site. The project has received considerable attention from the industry press due to the novel design of the central portion of the building.
The two rectangular teaching blocks were connected by a central portion with the shape of a classic Jaguar car door handle – a feature that required considerable efforts in design and fabrication.
Now that the steelwork has been completed, the construction programme moves on to cladding and glazing of the structure followed by internal fit-out. The Academy is due to open in September 2009.
