Shakespeare Tops Out

The project to renovate the Royal Shakespeare Theatre has reached its highest point, and occasion that was marked with the traditional topping-out ceremony. The event was attended by representative from all trades working on site, designers, the main contractor, Mace, and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Billington Structures is fabricating and erecting all the structural steelwork for the project – in the region of 600 tonnes of steel in all. The steelwork erection is approximately three quarters complete, although the overall redevelopment programme will continue until mid-way through 2010.
