
Following the recent certification of their factory production control system Billington Structures Ltd. are pleased to announce that they have commenced fabrication of their first CE marked steel structure.
The steel frame consists of a single storey braced frame for Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd. at Heaton Park in Manchester. The primary frame will be fabricated to Execution Class 2 and is believed to be the UK's first steel framed building structure to be delivered and certified under a CE mark as compliant with requirements of BS EN 1090:1-2009. The first load of steel is planned for delivery to site during week commencing Monday 30th May 2011 and the frame will be erected over a seven week period.

The 'CE' certification will demonstrate that the primary steel frame has been processed in accordance with the detailed requirements of BS EN 1090:2-2008 and EN ISO 3834:3-2005. Billington places great significance on compliance with these standards sees their introduction as a step forward for the industry. Billington is certified to produce structures up to and including Execution Class 4, the highest level of classification.
Commenting on becoming the first company to commence fabrication of CE Marked Steel Steve Fareham, Chief Executive of Billington said:
