Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon - (November 2008)
Location: West Midlands
The Royal Shakespeare Theatre is undergoing a complete transformation, and Billington Structures is lucky enough to be part of the once-in-a-lifetime project. The redevelopment involves replacing the ‘picture frame’ stage auditorium with one featuring the thrust stage.
Other important parts of the project include the restoration of the Grade II listed Art Deco foyer, fountain staircase and front and riverside façade. In addition, the project will deliver expanded public areas, new and better backstage facilities, and a viewing tower marking the theatre’s new entrance.
