Castle Point, Bournemouth - (December 2001)
Location: South West
Redevelopment of an existing 1960's shopping centre with three major stores (B & Q, Sainsbury's and Asda) plus a number of national retail companies (Next, Gap etc). This was an unusual development in that the retail area is at first floor level with car parking and storage at ground floor level, excluding the B & Q section which has heavy goods and a garden centre at ground floor. Slight complication for Billington in that B & Q and Asda continued trading in their original premises until the new stores were complete. Overlap on the buildings meant that there were always at least 2 buildings being erected.
