Billington Structures Secures £6m of Orders in One Day

01-Sep-08
Barnsley-based structural steelwork contractor, Billington Structures Ltd, recently won three new contracts with a total value of £6m – all in the space of one day.

All three projects require the fabrication and erection of steel frames for educational establishments located in the South of England. The steelwork for these projects will be fabricated at both of Billington’s factories in Barnsley and Bristol to meet the demand for in excess of 2,000 tonnes of steel.

The three programmes will run between October 2008 and March 2009, and will enhance Billingtons existing strong track record of working on educational facilities. This sector has provided the company with in excess of £35m in income over the past 5 years; many of these projects were part of the Governments ‘Building Schools for the Future’ initiative – a programme to ensure that all secondary schools in England are rebuilt or remodelled within the lifetime of the programme.

Steve Fareham, Managing Director of Billington Structures, commented, ‘The education sector is one of the sectors that continues to offer growth. At Billingtons we believe that our experience in developing structures for schools and colleges puts us in a strong position to contribute to this sector for many years to come.’

These contracts add to the company’s already strong order book, giving Billingtons considerable confidence in the outlook for the coming year.
