Remembering that Billington had won the award last year, we went to the Palace Hotel in Manchester under no illusions. We weren’t going to win it twice were we? The judges indicated that Billington’s overall performance and attention to their client’s aspirations had been outstanding, their mix of projects and specialist structures had been worthy of note, from the intricate lines of the Barnsley transport interchange in the shape of an aerofoil wing, to the brutish form of the Corus automated distribution centre. Where 4000 tonnes of steel had been erected to carry 10’s of thousand more of the same basic steel product. High profile projects, high quality structures from a high ranking company. Well done to all at team Billington.
