Opening the door on new safety device

Billington Structures Ltd – the Barnsley-based structural steelwork contractor - is leading the way in construction site safety by deploying the latest development from site safety experts easi-edge.
Following a request from BAM Construction to source access gates to fit into an existing safety system, Billington’s turned to easi-edge, supplier of the highest quality safety measures to the construction industry. As chance would have it, easi-edge was already developing such an access gate to fit into their established edge protection system.
Within two weeks of the original request, the gates were manufactured and installed on site at BAM Construction’s St Peter’s Square in Stockport – making the project the maiden outing for the gates.
The gates are designed to provide ground level access, making it suitable for pedestrian segregation or enabling access to different areas of site. They can also be used with perimeter edge protection at all levels.
Project Manager for Billington, Jon Batty, commented that, ‘These gates have enhanced an already excellent safety product, enabling easy access to areas surrounded by easi-edge without compromising the integrity of the system’. Meanwhile, BAM’s David Oldfield, said of the gates, ‘These look excellent…With the application of a combination lock, {they} provide a good safe system of work.’
Angela Hayward, Commercial Director at easi-edge said, ‘Clearly the introduction of this gate is just what the construction industry needs. We are very pleased that this development has been an instant hit both with the steelwork contractor and the main contractor, and hope that this will be the first of many outings for the easi-edge gate system.’
