Billington wins coveted Cafe Royal redevelopment contract
16-Apr-10
Billington Structures Ltd has been named as the structural steel supplier for this prestigious new development in London Piccadilly. Worth £3.1 million as part of a £70 million project, surveying is already under way.
Working with Mace Group, one of the world’s leading construction and consulting firms, this job will require 1,200 tonnes of steel for strengthening, replacing floors, and tying new concrete cores back to the retained facades. This will provide the building infrastructure as the site (a grade two listed building) is transformed into a 5 star luxury hotel. With 160 bedrooms, a spa, a restaurant and 16,000 sq ft of prime retail space, the development will be open in time for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Mike Fewster, Billington’s Chief Operations Officer commented, “Billington remains focused on customer service and we are delighted to have won the contract for the redevelopment of Cafe Royal. Our expertise in this area is second to none, allowing us to be put forward for work, despite difficult market conditions. This contract win is on the back of successful work with Mace Group, and the strong relationship we have developed with the company.”
