Defence Estates Safety Award at Bovington

November was a difficult month for lifting operations on the Bovington development. High winds could easily have compromised safety during the steel erection phase. This however was not allowed thanks to the tenacious control of lifting operations by Billington’s working foreman and slinger/signaller, Barry Smith.
Barry’s efforts were acknowledged both by the site team and Defence Estates with the presentation of the monthly IIF Safety Award, recognising excellence in safety awareness. In presenting the award to Barry, Tony Bird of Defence Estates commented very positively about the high standards of safety and housekeeping by all members of the project team.
