Barnsley’s Billington Structures has scooped national acclaim, taking the top prize for its role in a high profile development in North Yorkshire.
The structural steelwork company received the prestigious Project of the Year Award in a glittering award ceremony at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel that showcased some of the biggest construction projects in the defence sector.
Billington Structures was singled out for its development of the Richmond Centre at the Catterick Campus in the awards, sponsored by Bovis Lend Lease. The £600k project included the manufacture of 300 tonnes of steel at its Wombwell plant to create the single storey ‘Mess’ building at the Catterick garrison.
Dave Higgins, the Overall Project Manager, said: “We were proud to be part of this high profile project and pleased to receive the Project of the Year Award. The project involved the fabrication of steelwork and co-ordinating the build on site and its success was the result of working in close partnership with other companies.”
The award ceremony was attended by suppliers, consultants and clients within the Ministry of Defence, who together raised vital funds for the Help For Heroes charity during the evening.
