Billingtons were honoured to be asked to attend the official opening of the new Barnsley College Construction Centre on Friday 11th March.

The Principal of Barnsley College, Christopher Webb, commenced the ceremony, with the Worshipful the Mayor of Barnsley, Councillor Brian Mathers, in attendance and officially opened by Lord David Blunkett.

Billington Structures provided the structural steelwork for the new Barnsley College Construction Centre, as well as the new College Sixth Form located on a separate campus. It was approximately 400 tonnes of steelwork provided for the new centre, working for main contractor BAM Construction.

It was a pleasure to be involved in a project that was not only local to Billingtons, but also working for Barnsley College in helping promote construction based skills and careers. We have worked with the college for a number of years to improve our Graduate and Apprenticeship programme and look forward to a continued partnership into the future.
