On Friday 20th July, Billington Holdings Charity Foundation kicked off the 3rd Annual Charity Hog Roast! We decamped to Bristol to host with our southern brethren. The weather was glorious, the mood was jolly and the crackling crispy!
The chosen charities for the event were Muscular Dystrophy UK, Children’s Hospice Southwest, and The Grand Appeal – Ward 34; all of which are very close to the hearts of our team in Yate.
A week later and it was Barnsley’s turn. This year’s event was hosted at our Shafton Steel site and, despite almost being foiled by the weather gods, was a blazing success!
This fun-packed family event provided the perfect afternoon: good food, great company, and a very worthy cause.
Weston Park Cancer Charity is sadly well-known to many people in the region and is recognised for the fantastic care and support they give to patients and their families during one of the darkest periods of their lives.
Sticking with tradition, staff and their families were treated to the hog roast, ice-cream, drinks (including our local Acorn brewery), bouncy castle, Jenga, Skittles and the much-anticipated Raffle!
We had some fantastic prizes donated by our very generous clients and suppliers, for which we are most grateful. The prizes donated were a great incentive to buy raffle tickets, without which we wouldn’t be able to raise such a fantastic amount for these great charities.
We are pleased to announce that the joint total raised at these events was a fantastic £3,200 – our highest hog roast total to date!
